Nikon has again bumped up with a new Coolpix Series named as the Nikon Coolpix S30. This is a rugged entry-level camera which has point-and-shot feature and has been especially aimed for the beginners in photography. This camera bri8ngs a sealed enclosure strength and this camera can resist shock up to 80 cm drops, waterproof up to depths of 3m and can also make out with dirt and for that it is called as a rugged one. This Nikon Coolpix S30 is a compact camera which brings a 10.1 Megapixel 1/3-inch CCD sensor, equipped with a NIKKOR lens, facilitates for 3x optical zoom, implemented with an EXPEED C2 image processing engine and lots more. This compact camera will have its shipping started from March 29th and onwards that too with a price tag of $119.95. The rest of the other details related its configurations are discussed ahead.
The Nikon Coolpix S30 entry-level camera is built with a 2.7-inch TFT LCD display that carries approx. 230k-dot of resolution along with 5-level brightness adjustment. It is equipped a 1/3-inch CCD image sensor and carries 10.1 million approx. resolution. The device featured with a 3x optical zoom NIKKOR lens and has a focal length of 4.1-12.3mm (angle of view equivalent to 29.1-87.3 mm lens in 35mm [135] format). This camera is facilitated for up to 4x digital zooming functionality (angle of view equivalent to approx. 349 mm lens in 35mm [135] format).
This compact camera is embedded with Electronic VR (still pictures) and features with Contrast-detect AF. This camera has a frame coverage in shooting mode as Approx. 98% horizontal and 98% vertical whereas the frame coverage in playback mode is Approx. 100% horizontal and 100% vertical. In addition to the above discussed specifications this camera has an internal memory storage of approx. 47 MB and has been provided with the SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card compatibility. It captures still shots at the various image modes as 10M (3648 x 2736) 4M (2272 x 1704) 2M (1600 x 1200). This camera has the ability to take a series of pictures at up to 4 pictures at about 1.5 fps.
Apart from these the ISO sensitivity is of Auto (auto gain from ISO 80-1600) and features with the metering as 256-segment matrix, center-weighted metering (digital zoom less than 2x, spot (digital zoom 2x or more).
